Living in a city apartment means you don't get much airflow unless you leave the balcony door open. But without a screen, you’re basically inviting every city fly and moth into your bed. I can’t drill into my metal door frame (renter rules!), so this Velcro system was my only hope. I was worried the city wind would just rip it off, but it’s been three weeks and it’s solid as a rock. The black mesh provides a little bit of daytime privacy, too—I can see out, but neighbors can't see directly into my living room. It makes my tiny studio feel so much bigger and fresher. It’s easily the best $40 I’ve spent on this apartment. It folds up small, so if I move next year, it's coming with me.
